Larc,
You and Zazz always know just what to say. You make me feel so good. Not like some freaked out weirdo with strange ideas. Thank you both for just being you!!!

Do you still attend meetings?
by Sassenach ini'm wondering if you still attend meetings?
do you hold out hope for the watchtower organization?
if you've left entirely, have you found another form of worship?

Zazu,
Thank you for opening this up. I love you.
My husband was a Catholic. As a lifetime Witness, I have been very sheltered from any other religious ceremonies. (Although when I went to Europe I was in just about every famous cathedral there is)
Next year I want to see what a Catholic Christmas mass is like.
No desire to get involved with org. religion, just want to drink in the beautiful sounds sights and smells.
TW
btw music is incredible in a Cathedral. One of the most moving sounds of music I ever heard was in an Austrian cathedral. I stood there with tears running down my cheeks. It was a young boys choir if I recall. -

Java, Java, Java,
Alas must we call you to task? Imagine the formidable foe you will have to face if all of us women bodily get together and teach you a lesson.
You must never, never pick on Zazu, for she is now the queen of the forum. RHW has bestowed her powers on her.
Now you just run along and behave yourself or we'll get Mommy to handle our light work. -

Lisa,
So very sorry to hear this is happening.
My father has been an elder off and on for years. So I have to agree there are good elders. But a lot of times the good ones get kicked around by the bad ones.
And imho, many times the bad outweighs the good.
Hopefully justice will win out in your families case. And I hope the bad don't make things tough for your dad.

Who really is the FDS?!?!?!?!?
by LDH inhey all, hope you're having a great year so far.. before witnet was closed down, there was an interesting discussion regarding the fds and their failed prophecies.
i asked a question, but unfortunately there wasn't enought time to get everyone's view.. so i'll rephrase my posts, and wait to hear from y'all.. if we are so quick to say that the fds is a false prophet because of some failed prophecies (even tho they say they don't prophecy, we all know better) then how would you explain the bible book of jonah?.
a faithful prophet, jonah, followed (after much trial and tribulation to himself) jehovah's command to declare destruction on the city of nineveh.

Welcome Caretaker,
It made me so very sad to hear about how your daughter treats you. Please stay around and continue posting. You will find many of us here are in the same boat as you. While it does not fix the problem, it helps to know there are others going through the same thing.
Feel free to say anything you need to.

You go Prisca!!! I was going to stay out of this, but since you said everything in my heart and mind, I figured I would give it my stamp of approval.

All my life...
by SixofNine in....i have always heard the term, "dedication", used as part and parcle of the term/act of baptism.
you know, "dedication and baptism".. just recently, i've been wondering, why?
it's not that i don't believe dedicating oneself to jehovah is a noble thing, i'm just wondering what the reasoning is for formally linking dedication with baptism.. have i missed something really simple here?

Wow, have I been in the dark. I got baptized in '73 and it fact that we didn't say those words escaped me. I thought it was always like that. Nothing like living in a fog.
Six,
I do know that the dedication thing wasn't made such a fuss over until recent years. I never could understand it. I thought it was just a given that the two were one and the same. Like Frenchy, I never saw it in the same verse.
Wendy,
I know exactly what you mean. I have one brother who was smart enough to know better. Unfortunately that is not the case with the other two. I am so sorry for your brothers pain and confusion (and rightfully so that he is confused)
My husband brought up an interesting point. The witnesses talk against getting married too young (although that is not the trend anyway seems marriage at a very young age is the trend for Witnesses) but yet they will allow and even encourage young children to commit to a lifetime that they could not even possibly understand.
I was thirteen. How was I supposed to know the twist and turns my life would take? I had no clue. Not in my wildest imaginings. So sad to find out the hard way later.

To Seven
by Angharad ini've not been on the forum all weekend, but i've just read the women jokes tread.. i just wanted to say that i think that what patricia said to you was totally unjustifed and very unfair, and i'm positive that she is the only person here that thinks that way.
if she bothered to read other posts that you have made, she would see that you are one of the most caring and loving people here.. btw: i thought the joke was hilarious.

Seven,
Just wanted to add my sentiments. It just made me feel so badly that it even had to happen. You handled it very well. I probably would have just curled up into a ball and cried.
Let all of our love surround you and warm you.
Keep your sense of humor, most of us love it.

Starting a joke thread - c'mon, join in!
by waiting inhenry and jane were much in love with each other, despite many differences, including their religions.
jane was a devout christian, henry believed strongly in reincarnation.
but the husband & wife both agreed on one thing - if either of them died - the other was to go to a spirit medium within one week so that their spirits could commune and assure the surviving spouse of their mutual love.. henry died tragically.

Redhorse,
I laughed so hard I thought I was going to die. I laughed so loud my husband heard me at the other end of the house and asked what was going on.
